The NCAA owns the NCAA Tournament media rights. The sale of those rights is the NCAA's primary revenue source. A common criticism of the NCAA's enforcement of its by-laws is it is extremely reluctant to take any action against any program that might negatively impact the attractiveness of the NCAA Tournament media rights.

The NCAA does not own the CFP rights.
