they are counter productive. Or that the treatments aren't optimized. Or that the tracking rules provide distorted numbers.
In any event, it seems that most states have been slowing down quite a bit as they get to about 40% infection rate. By my calculations, Missouri is at a little over 18% infection rate. That is at least a bit of herd immunity but several states continued to spike in that range and even higher.
That estimate, btw, is assuming a .26 infection death rate, which was the last one I saw from the CDC from a couple of months or more ago. Hopefully it has come down more as they've figured out better how to treat patients. I've read that the death rate from COVID in hospitalized patients has dropped quite a bit as they've learned better protocols.
If it is lower than that, then our rate of people already infected is higher, and our herd immunity is a little better as well.
