going into the 2016 season, we knew it was going to be a little rebuild, but nothing catastrophic to get back to bowl games with early on.
The opportunity was there to knock of Georgia. Then the wheels came off, losing to Middle Tennessee.
Then when the team got their faces kicked in the first 5 weeks, he tried to sell it as a complete rebuild, start from scratch and he was the man to do it. No one thought that with the roster and schedule should we be talking about a complete rebuild. The fans never thought that, the media never thought that, the AD never thought that.
We luckily faced the easiest remaining schedule to bring life back, and set up the fan expectation that we are were going to compete for an East title. Going into the 2018 season the expectation was 10 wins with a bowl win. Fell way short in 2 brutal losses and bowl loss. Got the big win to show we can beat good teams at Florida, but it didn't matter in the long run.
He completely lost the team the second half of the season and the Vanderbilt loss was the end of it.
He is a really good DC. I don't think Mizzou will regret letting him go as HC though.
