1. Given the FBI's recent history of blatant and illegal partisanship in trying to keep President Trump from being elected and later in trying to get him out, and in hiding exculpatory evidence they had during the impeachment hearings, it is certainly possible that this is yet more of the same. - It should be noted that they have refused to give any information about it to the Senate oversight committee, much to their chagrin. They have publicly rebuked the FBI for this.

2. They may already be having grand jury hearings on the evidence obtained. One of the images on Biden's laptops was of a subpoena from the FBI, signed by an FBI agent who has been in charge of kiddie porn prosecutions.
