Not that long ago I thought of the NYT as a respectable paper. I am no more likely to believe anything they print than something from the National Enquirer.
The same goes on the broadcast side. The network news broadcast were once a very solid source of information. I was never fond of CNN but they were a go to source for breaking news. Now you cannot even trust news from these sources because they do not understand the difference between reporting and opining.
