That happened. Right now, it's showing him with 15% chance of winning. Could it happen, sure. But the polling that was done in 2018 was incredibly accurate.

States that Trump won in 2016: Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, all by pretty narrow margins, are polling higher for Biden than they did for Clinton in 2016. Do I think Trump will lose Penn by 7 on election day? No, but that is a significant gap to make up in 26 days.
