the way this works is there is not some router on the west coast that the government controls. The internet is constructed as a web of fail-safe routes that are interconnected to allow the flow of traffic along any number of different paths. Yes, the number of connections decreases when you exit a country and cross an ocean, but the point is what is happening is we are telling a bunch of private companies to block certain types of traffic on their networks. That is a damn slippery slope and antithetical to the spirit of the Internet in the first place.
