And at 4 of 5 beaches it was very true. Omaha was just an incredibly strong position manned by a more than competent division. He just underestimated the survivability of well dug in troops (remember that Iwo Jima/Okinawa came later). I don't see any comparison to what was said by Trump. Eisenhower gave his best appraisal of the situation based on the information he had.
