I guess because I don't freak out about total "cases", I just assume others don't.
Here's an real life example that hit home for me on why testing is important.
Son went back to school. Shares a 10x10 room with another guy. Roommate tests positive. Son was set to come home for a period of time. We have my wife's dad living with us, who is nearly 80, has COPD, one good lung and had surgery on that one good lung.
So, he got tested not for concern for himself because he's young and healthy but because it would devastate him if he thought he transmitted it to his PaPa and it killed him.
Personally, I don't view what my son did as freaking out, but just concern for a loved one and one reason I think testing can and should be available.
