to protect my house and family" line when buying guns. Just say the truth that you like them and they're fun to shoot. My father-in-law is a huge gun guy and uses the "I need protection" line all the time. He owns dozens of guns. One or two I can buy that you are doing it for protection. When you are hitting double-digit guns, it's not for protection anymore. It's just something you like to collect. No one is buying dozens of pairs of Air Jordans and claiming they need them all to hoop with.
