What if we make it to 6 games, having won them all, and then lose the season to a spike - is that worth the risk?
Let's step through this logically:
1. We'd prefer the Mizzou Football season complete all ten games.
2. The team is spending $55k per month to complete daily screenings of the players.
3. The moment a player tests positive, the powers that be will know it.
4. If a team has a spike in positive tests, they'll likely either have to postpone or forfeit the next game or games.
5. A positive test does not require symptoms, sickness or anyone having a truly life-threatening condition. These young athletes will mostly likely be asymptotic even if they test positive. That doesn't matter. If positive test counts spike, games will be postponed.
6. Other than running a 'balloon', where all players and coaches must stay together 24x7 with no outside contact, there is no known way to prevent Covid19 cases from developing.
7. A balloon is possible to run for an NBA team of 10 players and a small staff, all paid professionals.
8. A balloon for 120+ players and a large staff, traveling across the south to play away games is impossible to maintain - breaches will occur.
9. There is only one preventative measure proven to keep test results negative - one pill a week of HQ+Zinc. Significant empirical proof that this approach works is available.
10. By pursuing this regimen, the team can avoid POSITIVE TEST RESULTS. This is isn't about saving lives on the football team (though that may end up a fantastic 'side effect') - it's about avoiding losing the season to a spike in cases.
11. Doing nothing, with daily testing going on, is 100% guaranteed to fail. A spike will occur. We've already watched this happen in professional sports: why not learn from history?
12. If you REALLY want a full season, the most logical, rational approach is preventive care.
With no care, and a balloon program only, the teams’ chances of completing the season are probably 20% at best.
With preventive care, religiously administered by trainers and adhered to by coaches & staff, the chances of completing the season are probably 80-90%.
Other teams will likely be postponing and forfeiting due to spikes in cases.
Why not maximiize our chances of being a team that makes it to the end of the season?
