I'll explain it for you:
The coronavirus is not dangerous to healthy people. The chances of a healthy person dying from the coronavirus is comparable to their chances of dying in a car crash. It appears from early results that the coronavirus vaccine will not be very effective for fat, unhealthy people (those at a higher, though still not too high, risk of dying from the coronavirus).
So, when govts and people collectively pour billions of dollars into a useless vaccine that isn't needed by healthy people and not effective for unhealthy people, those billions of dollars (and the resources that are commanded by them) cannot go to a more useful purpose which you would actually grow and progress the economy and prosperity.
That is economics in one lesson. You have to look at how a policy affects not one set of people (Big Pharma) but all groups of people (everyone else that has less money because it goes to Big Pharma for a useless vaccine to a not-very-dangerous virus).
