I lived in North St Louis for 40 years - I also grew up

prior to that living in trailer parks across the USA. 15 schools in 12 states. 15 trailer parks.
I can understand why a person who grew up in East St Louis would think poverty and inequality is limited to black people. Everybody there is black and most of them are poor. That is Cuonzo's point of reference. Same thing in North St Louis. I worked with people from East St Louis and from now defunct Lincoln High where Cuonzo attended. I attended a funeral in East St Louis of a coworker and when the preacher said he was a graduate of Lincoln everybody in the congregation who went to Lincoln stood up. They were proud to be graduates of Lincoln High. I understand Cuonzo's perspective.
Everybody in those trailer parks I lived in were white and all of them were just as poor or poorer than the people in North St Louis. I thought everybody living in a house was rich when I was a kid. People living in houses called us trailer trash. The white people Cuonzo has encountered are in college and the NBA. Those people are not representative of a majority of white people.
I'd say the key to getting out of poverty is a good education, a solid family supporting you, a strong work ethic and politicians who want to keep jobs in America instead of enriching themselves.
It's good to see bring up the topic but I'd like to hear Cuonzo have a serious discussion about the causes and solutions.
