I was speaking in relative terms between conferences, no one wants to see people fail but the big 10 losing revenue isn’t the SEC’s fault.
But Long term the SEC comes out of this much better than the big10 in particular - they are already being seen by recruits as not committed to them.. there was a SDS article on it this morning with quotes from coaches there and then OSU had their top commit leave their class today already, likely headed to UF or Bama, Talk of Fields leaving too,
And to the larger point, any athletic department that wasn’t smart enough to have a contingency plan for a lost season isn’t a very good business. Either via insurance, rainy day fund, commitment from the university etc. UGA had something like 40 million set aside, UTk had an insurance policy to cover pandemic supposedly etc.
