is a major contributor to the unemployment-companies are simply not hiring and in fact continue to lay off in some sectors of their organization while bringing back some workers in other areas. Additionally you cannot discount the positive impact that those funds have made on the economy. Whether spent on rent, food or even frivolous items it enabled some employers to not lay off additional workers. This should not be taken as an endorsement of continuation of the subsidy at those amounts, but some is certainly required because the greater majority of workers are in fact eager to return to work-the problem is that the jobs aren’t there and won’t be back for a long time if ever.
