I once had a hit on a subject on a rape warrant and had him out of the car and on the hood with backup enroute. I could only act based on the information I was provided until I started drilling into that over the radio. Turned out it was a Soundex hit for a very similar name but with the same DOB. Once I asked for physical descriptors I was able to ascertain this was NOT the wanted person and everyone responding could stand down.
