Dear football players: We enjoy watching you run

around on the football field, pretending that you feel the same way about alma mater as we do.
We appreciate the money you bring in to the school through tickets, merchandise and tv revenue.
We love to watch you guys pummel our arch rivals regularly on the field.
But you serve no purpose beyond that. Regardless of whether you think you do.
Virtually none of you on scholarship would qualify academically for this school or many others if not for your skill on the football field.
You are largely stupid, self absorbed, quasi criminals with a stunning sense of self importance that only demonstrates yet again that your are barely intelligent enough to play football, let alone make decisions on the best interests of this university and the nation.
So go play football. We will watch and cheer and follow recruiting of other 18 year old neanderthals as if it is something important. We will wear our school colors on game day whether we are at the stadium, in a bar or on the sofa at home.
But please, leave the thinking to others.
We don't tell you how to throw or catch a football. Please don't tell us how to run a university with 30,000 students, thousands of employees and faculty, millions of dollars in expenses, hundreds of millions of dollars in endowments, food services, living arrangements and ensuring the safety of our students.
So play your games, pretend you're a student athlete, waste your free education, abuse your privilege at this university and then pout if you don't get to make decisions on what you think is best for our students and our nation in general.
And if you threaten to not play, please understand that your decision is fine with us. We are an institution of higher learning, not a playground for physically gifted imbeciles.
So play or don't, it's your choice.
But you have a scholarship that provides free lodging, food, education, text books and health care based on a contract to play football at this university.
If you choose to break that contract please know that your scholarship will be rescinded and given to another equally gifted athlete who like you, has no business on a university campus unless on the janitorial staff.
