first they announce what they're hoping to accomplish, but they make it sound as unappealing as possible.

then when they decide to cancel the whole thing, it feels much less impactful.

"meh, it was just going to be a shortened season with 20% capacity and no tailgating. that doesn't seem worth it anyway. probably makes sense to cancel it if they can't do it right."
