compared to other P5 coaches who seem to realize that recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. As I said, CM probably knows that but just doesn't care anymore because he's set for life and lacks the competitive spirit that most of his peers have.
He worked the recruiting trail harder when he was a young up-and-coming coach, without lifetime financial security. And it's hard to reconcile that past recruiting success — along with his inherent recruiting advantage as a black man — with his lack of success since landing the $20+ million contract at MU.
