My gut tells me that Drinkwitz and crew probably articulate their vision better. Social media provides a a familiarity of him to the prospect. So when he or one of his coaches starts to articulate their vision and how that player would fit in and what they'll do to help him get there it's not a cold open. Barry was known for not wanting to talk to people other than those with whom he was comfortable with. That lack of comfort still conveys when talking to prospects you don't have a relationship with. Not saying he couldn't get past that with some, but the guy was no natural salesman. Also, his coaches wouldn't have had that ability to play off a media identity when making approaches on kids. Plus, did you ever get a sense of what Odom was trying to accomplish? I think Odom is probably a great position coach (LB). He never established he was a DC (we got better when he stepped away and was a DC for 1 year at Mizzou). In fact, if you look at the scoring while he was Memphis, the defense probably benefited from being on the field considerably less by 2014. So he's probably an adequate DC. Arkansas will get to find out. I'm not thinking the kids would get the same experience being recruited by both Odom and Drinkwitz.
