It seems fairly clear that the only tactic that is truly effective in combating the corona virus is strict shut downs/quarantines. I.e. people stay home except for "essentials". My understanding is both China and Italy have utilized "strict shutdowns" with good effect.
Unfortunately, "strict shutdowns" require enforcement and not a lot of countries have the ability to "strictly enforce" a shut down.
Given the Spanish study, among others, that corona virus anti-bodies seem to have a relatively short life time which, if correct, would mean a person could get it repeatedly and any vaccine relying upon the virus antibodies (the standard vaccine technology), the virus might be around for a very long time and trying to control it with shut downs and quarantines would radically change the way the world functions.
