... cast of characters around him and terrible luck (with some stupidity thrown in).
When he split time with Dougherty in 99, he was clearly the better QB and actually moved the ball when he was behind center.
After his incredible effort at Colorado (lost in OT), Smith finally gave him the #1 spot for good after that.
He led us to a 14-0 lead against Iowa State the next week for homecoming, and we were about to go 4-2 and only needed 2 more wins for a 3rd straight bowl game.
Then his leg got tackled by two Cylcone defenders and that was his season.
Doughtery came in and we got outscored 24-7 and we lost.
Without Farmer we got shutout by KU, OU, Kansas State. We went 1-5 after Farmer broke his leg, with Doughtery and Gage at QB.
The next season, Farmer is improving as a sophomore after coming back from the injury.
We go into Nebraska on National TV at night and he is having a monster game passing and rushing and keeping Mizzou in the game.
The announcers are going crazy for him and talking about a future star in the making in the Big 12.
And then on a long run, he broke his collar bone. Season over.
Pinkel took over in 2001, and the week before the first game of the season, Farmer broke his hand in a bar/street fight.
2002 - in comes Brad Smith and Farmer had to be the backup as a Senior.
Martz did sign him as a Free Agent, and he played a little in the preseason for the St. Louis Rams.
