Is politics really that complicated?

Freedom? Do you believe in it or do you want to attack people in the streets who disagree with you?
Justice? Do you believe in it or do you want reparations and vengeance against people for things that happened in the ancient history of America?
Science? Do you believe in it or do you want to twist it to political ends to 'Get Trump' or 'Bankrupt America' or 'Redistribute Wealth'?
The American Dream? Is it good to work hard, make money and then benefit from the fruit of your own labor or should you be attacked, suppressed and destroyed with your money taken away because other people are poor?
Private Property? Is it good? Or is it an illusion. Should you be able to take/use any property you see in front of you at any time because you consider yourself a victim in some other areas in your life?
The concepts of honesty, truth, justice, fairness really aren't that tough to work out, not even that tough to work out in any given situation.
But certain groups indoctrinated along certain lines attack all of these things and then justify that on bizarre grounds usually surrounding some sort of victim status.
Why have such a large percentages of Americans literally gone insane and now make all that is fairly straight-forward and logical, complicated and impossible?
What is the source of this new, dramatized group mental illness?
Regardless of what happens in politics, we're going to have to get to the bottom of this because clearly our civilization is a house built on sand, and there are a lot of sick crazy people out there...
