and the Sac and Fox nation already have a pretty good relationship with the team. Whether the hockey team gets renamed would be up to the team and the Sac and Fox.
This is similar to many of the NCAA mascots of indigenous nations that have already changed (Stanford, Miami, Eastern Michigan, Syracuse, St. John's, North Dakota, to name a few).
Florida State has approval and cooperation of the Seminole Nation to keep the name, as well as Osceola and Renegade, the warrior and horse that plant the spear before every home game. Central Michigan has a similar agreement...they only now use the "Action C" as their logo and do not claim a mascot, although they were formerly known and still commonly referred to as the Chippewas.
