I don't know Genco's positions on everything, but I can agree with the basic tenet that players, coaches and schools that take public political positions can be a major turnoff to fans and potential supporters.
We used to all be able to come together on game day with a common goal of rooting for our team and nobody needed to talk about politics. Now we need to get political about everything, let's sing two anthems, kneel for one of them, wear a political statement across our shoulders, paint a liberal slogan on our court/field, and make lots of racists social media posts.
Like it or not, it is getting harder for the average fan to enjoy a simple game.
