Voted for McGovern in1972. She converted me, very temporarily, from liberalism to rationalism, but my pendulum pretty quickly we swung back towards, though not to, the middle.

I agree that her essays were often interesting, although she is such a fanatic that it wore me out.

Try We The Living. Far and away her best book, IMHO.

I think there a lot of people out there who were heavily influenced by her, but did not stick with her more extreme views.
