at the lab school gym. Had been flashing a gun around and several students called 9-1-1.

Get there and another officer went inside to assess while I was getting suspect description from several of the witnesses. About the time I was radioing to the other officer "jheri curls" I look over to see him trying to take a man purse away from a guy with....jheri curls. I move that way as he hands off the bag to his running buddy, but I intercept the handoff. Order both to their knees and they comply...of course I had a gun and they had nothing.

Zip open the bag expecting a cheap Saturday night special they had been flashing around, and find the satin nickel .45.

Surrounded by black students, cuffing these 2 black jackasses, a white newby officer fresh out of the Academy and field training and a black senior officer, and we weren't hassled or interfered with in any way.

The black students appreciated our presence and actions.

The gun? Had been stolen in a Wisconsin hardware store burglary 8 years prior. ATF came and got it after our case was adjudicated because they wanted ballistics on it.


But no, I've never pointed a gun at anyone.
