German law required any youth aged 15 and above who had not previously served in the military to apply for permission to leave the country-he failed to do that. Years later he returned to Germany with a sizable fortune(at the time) from his brothel in Canada. His attempt to have his illegal departure stricken from the records backfired and he was declared a traitor and deported
