This is a common argument from the modern liberal, and one often used and repeated by raskolnikov. He is, almost always, corrected on this by people who consider themselves conservatives or on the Right. And the counter argument is based on numbers. Yes, many have emigrated to America over the centuries, but they have never outnumbered those born here.

I’d like for you to keep that in mind every time you make the argument that “we” have a representative government, that “we the people” gave authority to “the founders”, that government exists by “our” consent, that “we have a voice; it’s the ballot box”, etc. It’s the exact same numbers game. There has never - ever - been a majority on gvmt’s side.
