Death toll is lower so far with the new spike in cases because it often takes 3-4 weeks or longer after being infected before someone dies. Then after someone dies there is a lag time in the death being reported, as paperwork has to be filled out, report has to be filed, etc. We will see a significant rise in deaths as we get into August, which could certainly affect fall campus plans and fall football.

The current death rate is also affected somewhat by more young people getting infected, who do have a lower percent death rate, but are not immune from dying due to COVID-19.
