we had a lack of scholarship available if we needed to sign another player, so I don't know if it's really a waste of a scholarship. It's like buying a lottery ticket without your own money. If you hit, then it's great. But if you don't, it really didn't cost you anything. The money spent on the scholarship is negligible in the grand scheme of the basketball program budget and was worth the risk with the potential upside.
