I believe that Trump has spoken more than one time about Floyd's death and the protests that have followed. Why didn't Mattis provide evidence from these speeches of how Trump was trying to sow division in this country.
I would also note that Mattis is not an attorney and he didn't provide any specific law that Trump or any other federal officer had broken when dealing with this protest. Yet he alleged that anyway.
If Mattis felt this way about Trump, he should never have accepted the job or he should have resigned much sooner than he did.
One final note, Mattis could have spoken about the condition of the American military when Trump took office and he should have at least credited Trump with increasing funding for it (esp considering the Chinese threat.)
