astounded that my Dad grew up on a farm with no running water or electricty. That my Grandpa was the 1930 equivilant of slave labor being a tenement farmer.
The blessing was the GI Bill, in 2 generations our family went from shoeless sod busters to privilaged. Did white have a play in that, likely yes. But it also took a lot of hard work.
