Many of these businesses were not insured.
If you owed money on the building before the destruction, you will still owe that money...except you will get a new place, but a further delayed opening.
I guess if you just took the check and ran, it might work....but I doubt most owners would do that....they are wanting to be in the business....it is their passion.
