It's been lost to the Tigerboard purge, but I got harassed

Was driving home from a friends house at like 1am after playing poker all evening. Had drank a couple beers with dinner(pizza) but that was like 6 hours prior to driving home, plus I'm fat and 2-3 beers does nothing to me.
Anyways, I'm coming down I29 in the Northland, heading home and the highway is 3-lanes wide. I'm in the middle lane. I'm going the speed limit and I come up on a police car going about 10mph under the speed limit. I put on my blinker, get over in the left, and start to pass him.
He flips on his lights, gets behind me, and pulls me over(I merge over to the right shoulder, across the 3 lanes with no other traffic)
Cop sits in his car for like 10 minutes, I assume running my plate or whatever.
Finally comes up to my car and asks me what I'm doing, where I'm going, where I've been. I answer it all.
The next question is "Have you been smoking?" It threw me off a little, I figured he'd ask me if I had been drinking. I kinda paused, and said no. He asks me if I'm sure. I respond yes, I don't smoke, never have, never will(which is true)
He says ok, and goes back to his car with my license and insurance info. Comes back 5-10 minutes later. "are you SURE you haven't been smoking, or been with someone that was smoking" Well, a couple of the guys I was playing cards with were smoking cigars, so maybe thats it. I tell him that, doesn't seem to be the answer he's looking for.
He asks me if I have anything in the glove box. I tell him no, just my insurance paperwork. He asks if I can open it so he can look inside. I open it up, there's papers and a little leather roadside service kit with a tire gauge, flashlight and crap like that in it. He wants to know what that is, I hand it to him, he looks through it.
He finally asks me to come back to his car. I agree, go back to his car, he has me sit in the passenger seat(not in the back) while he jacks with his computer some more.
HE says "So, no tickets or anything on your record?" I respond no. He asks "So, you usually get a lawyer to take care of your tickets or what?" To which I respond that I haven't had a speeding ticket in at least 10-15 years, I haven't ever needed a lawyer.
He messes around with the computer some more...asks me several more times if I've been smoking. No, no, nope, no sir.
FINALLY tells me I can go back to my car and head home.
Whole ordeal took nearly an hour, it was nuts. I have no idea what the dude was looking for. He probably could have had me take a breathalyzer and I might have blown something, maybe .02 or something, but he never even once mentioned alcohol.
Whole thing was weird as hell.
