he wouldn't have been shot. And if the shooter's father had called the cops instead of confronting the looters directly, his son wouldn't have been forced to intervene. Granted, the cops might not have made it there in time, but why put yourself in harm's way without giving the cops a chance to do their job?

It would appear that neither the looter nor the shooter were exactly Boy Scouts based on their prior police records. Both had a history of assault charges. Somewhat surprising that the shooter was even able to retain his liquor license after those incidents.
