The Bundesliga resumed play last weekend. Other leagues are in the process of doing so. NASCAR has resumed racing. They are essentially regular events with no fans. You can catch a broadcast or two and get a feel for what the football season may be like.

I would suggest the perceived level of danger will determine what happens this fall.

If there is a serious flare up and its perceived to be serious enough to serious endanger players, the season won't be played or will be curtailed.

If it's perceived there too much danger to fans, but only some, manageable danger to players, the season will be played in empty stadiums.

And if it's perceived the pandemic has waned and is essentially over, it will be business as usual.
