He's been incredibly successful in Germany. I think I saw on twitter that he was named the top small forward over there for the past decade.
That said, I wouldn't call that a disappointing career. He's been getting paid to play basketball for like 15 years now and has likely earned several million dollars over his career. He would've made more in the NBA, but in terms of athletic accomplishments, RP hasn't been a disappointment. He's maximized his talent IMO, just in a different league.
Doug Smith, on the other hand, was drafted high by the NBA and flamed out fairly quickly. He didn't have a long and productive career in a lower league, that I'm aware of. Just kind of faded away. He should've been great, but he was nowhere close.
