Both BoCo and CoMo have authority over MU but would never exercise it like that. I live here and trust me: BoCo and CoMo LOVE Mizzou. Just love it. All the elected officials know that CoMo would be like Moberly with a State Farm if it wasn’t for Mizzou (no offense intended for my Moberly friends.) Remember the closings? BoCo and CoMo followed MU’s lead. Just like CoMo schools follow’s MU schedule. It’s a beautiful symbiotic relationship and the last thing you have to worry about is BoCo and CoMo screwing with Mizzou. Not gonna happen.
The bigger worry is MU itself, and other universities. Populated by smart people, they make decisions like this based on science. And folks: The science ain’t good.
Best case scenario: We risk it. Universities ban big lecture classes, take those online, let smaller classes stay with social distancing, then say see? Campus is “open” (with other adjustments) so let’s play ball! Enact some B.S. social distancing for games which no one will follow, and hopefully, just hopefully, not enough people get sick to make everyone regret it.
I’m ready from some DrinkBall! I like what I’ve seen and if I’m that excited about Mizzou football right NOW, then man something’s up.
