I had a biz friend in Canada that would trade stocks based on the ex-dividend date. He would buy the stock the day before it was credited for, and sell it a few days later..then keep doing that.
He made sure it was still a stock that he liked, so if it went down, he could hold it a bit longer.
Some of the sites out there have good search functions to be able to do that....but it was a bit much work to get it figured out. Given that most sites have gone to zero trade costs, could be something interesting if you were able to get a computer program to search for you.
Cramer always talked about accidently high yield stocks as a good way to get in, especially with super low interest rates.
