I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you can identify if a car is driving far in excess of the speed limit. You can make the determination that it's breaking the law. It doesn't mean to assume the extreme and automatically fine, jail, or otherwise penalize without due process.
It's possible to identify a criminal act has taken place AND believe in a trial. They aren't exclusive. I stated that a criminal act has taken place, and you decided that argument by extreme ("Just put them in jail, right!") was your best response.
Either you think a criminal act has taken place, or you do not. The assumption of innocence (among other things) will guarantee the right to a fair trial.
