Only how it was time. It was their turn. MYGOD, it's 2020 and we haven't had a colored woman on the supreme court.

Identity politics is paramount. Diversity pandering is a requirement.
Competence has become what diversity was; a guideline, a hope that the person chosen may have some modest degree of competence in their job.
