I see it as short term/long term. I invariably go for the long term solution, as I do on this issue. As to being dependent, one reason we don't have to now is if ME oil is available. Why on earth would we use ours now when we don't have to? If we do, thats when we will be dependent on someone. With more oil than most, that should not happen.
