with about 10 minutes left. We had the lead, had all the momentum, had Bradford running for his life and he tosses up a Hail Mary into triple coverage. Pig - who was one of my favorite players - was sitting like a punt returner waiting to catch it. Except he didn't.
That kept the drive alive and of course they went on to score and take the lead. Then the very next play from scrimmage Chase threw a pick 6 and all of a sudden it's a two-score game.
We dominated them in every statistical category and should have won that game. Of course Big Game Boob, classes plick that he was/is, acted like they blew us out. Pig holds on to that, we have the lead with like 8-9 minutes left and the ball and we likely hold on.
The strange thing was nearly the exact same scenario played out in the Big 12 title game. Missouri drove up and down the field on them in the first half but kept settling for field goals (most likely because Chase Coffman was hurt).
It was tied midway late third quarter and we are driving. Then they sacked Daniel and took us out of field goal range. We punt and (to their credit) they drive down and score. The next play from scrimmage Daniel throws a Pick 6 and we're down 14. and everybody thinks we were blown out again.
We were better than them that year. I remember thinking we were one half away from playing for the National Title. We were No. 1 in the BCS going into that game, and got screwed out of even going to a BCS bowl. That was our first step out the door.
