Imagine how many lives would be saved if we walked everywhere we went.
You cannot discuss it rationally because of the emotional response but we always balance public safety and economic prosperity. I have no doubt that thousands of lives have been saved by the measures we have taken so far. BUT how many families have been financially ruined by those same measures?
If saving one life were actually that important we would have entirely different laws for guns, drugs, alcohol and personal liberty.
One thing that makes America different is that we were founded on the principle of personal liberty knowing full well that there is a cost to that liberty.
