I have been saying this from the beginning. Is it worth destroying our economy when we do not really know the impact?
The worst case scenarios from doom sayers say as much a 60% of our population will catch this and 6% of those will die. Both of those numbers are ridiculously high but if true that would be 12M Americans. A horrible number. But every year we lose 1.25M Americans to auto accidents. No one seriously suggest banning cars and closing roads to save 12M lives over the next decade but we are destroying our economy when we don’t even know what the real number may be.
Kansas’ Governer ended school for half a million students based upon eleven cases and a single death. For the roughly half of Kansas students who may be marginal students, at best, what impact does this have on them? It was reactionary and premature. Most Kansas schools had already stopped classes for three weeks. She could have waited two weeks to see what was developing and then made the same decision, if necessary at that time.
