measure of the economy as a whole. However, President Trump made the decision to tie much of his message to how the Dow has performed. Convenient when the market is hot. And now it will be very difficult to distance himself from it even if the market conditions are the result of a global event for which there is no short term solution and that no president could impact significantly.

This is a self-inflicted wound and one he will need to face for as long as it continues. He made the mess.
