average wage earner accumulates slowly overtime. A person earning $50K would over a years time earn about 3.6 weeks more than their normal net pay. If the wage earner is off work there is no benefit at all. The largest savings is to the corporate sector as they will net the entire 7.65% of what they normally pay as a match to all employees. There is no expected trickle down from that savings to employees. On the other side of the issue is the compounding of non funding to Social Security and Medicare during the time period dedicated to suspending the payments. in all, it is more of a last ditch effort than a front line cure imo.
