There have been a handful of times in the 25 years I've known my wife at which she's confronted me to say "where are you? you're distant" or something to that effect.

Each and every time, I've looked her in the eye and said, "if you talk to me like you did on Thursday, I leave emotionally or I leave physically".

she gets ****ed but it works.
