He was a really smart guy that knew the game and took an unusual path, but as the story notes, he almost made other choices. What if he decided to stay in high school, and after a few years decided it wasn’t paying the bills and knew that selling insurance was a better income? He’d be an insurance salesman that is better prepared to analyze the game than anybody in the media.

No I’m not saying that I know that anybody with Rivals or anywhere else took that path and is some sort of savant in disguise, but I recognize that somewhere, somebody along those lines could happen. Jeff Handy sells insurance, last I checked. I would take his opinion over Dave Matter’s.

Hell, there are a few people on this board that I don’t even know the real name, and I can tell you after some interaction that they understand how to break down the game better than Gabe or Dave do.7
